This Ranking model is a rather basic formula that gives and takes points when you play padel. You also earn a small amount of points simply by playing, as you also lose points by not playing for a while.
All new players start out at 500 points, no matter their level. Once you’re in, you don’t leave. You can, however, choose to be anonymized, which we do not recommend. Generally speaking, and very simplified, you earn 5 points for each game you win against your competitor. If, for example, two pairs start out with 1000 points each (the sum of each pairs), a 7-6 will give 5 points to each of the winners and take 5 points form the losers. A 7-5 will give 10 points, a 6-4 15 points and so on. A 6-0 will give and take 35 points. Then your gained points are adjusted to the difference in the sum of points between the two pairs. Finally, all players get a little sum in reward for simply playing. This is not only to encourage using Padel Rank, but also a recognition of the added skills in playing padel that we assume you get for each set played.
If you participate in annual club tournament, national or international championships, you may even get more for each set you play.
Please be aware, that this ranking system is based on playing sets, not matches. This means, you do not have to play an entire match to get into this system. Or, if you play a match, it must be registered as two (or three) independent sets.
This ranking system is particularly useful when four persons team up and play 3 sets in 3 combinations, this usually takes 1,5 hours, depending on level and level difference between players (6-0 is generally faster won than 7-6).You can play with advantage or golden point. The default set is with advantage. However, as many national and international tournaments are made with golden point, this is also an option. Be aware, that points are multiplied with factor 0,7 (=devalued) with golden point compared to advantage in each game.
All players can play and participate at any time, at any court, in Pdlrnk. All you need (and this is important) is, that all 4 players agree (not majority, but all 4!) to play a ranking set before starting to play.
Please notice that Pdlrnk not is a “collecting-point-system”. This means, that it may not be exactly as important for you to win each and every time. Pdlrnk is a “give-and-take-system” and it is socially balanced in the way that you don’t get many points by winning over someone you’re already better than. You can actually lose points if you win too little over someone where you should have won more. Also, if you one day get points that may put you higher than your actual skills, you will probably lose your points next time you play.
Be aware, the major "flaw" in this system, or difference, as we will call it, is that you are generally rewarded per game won, and not per set won. You will generally earn points by losing 7-6 twice and winning 6-0. So never give up on any match! It is all about winnings games, and a 7-6 loss in much more gentle than getting beaten 6-0.
It is important for you to insert the matches in the same order as they are played. In generally, the last set played counts the most as all players points are recounted after each played set. It is slightly better for you to lose 2-6, then to win 6-2 in the same combination as the opposite. So please insert your Sets in the same order as they have been played. And please do not wait a few days until you enter the results. Be aware that this system is managed by Pdlrnk, that allows itself rights to make seasonal adjustments to the ranking list, including deductions for time, and including handling disputes within the system, hereby the eventual cancelling of games that could be interpreted as misleading.
Pdlrnk also allows itself to, on own initiative, insert match results from official national or international tournaments. In these cases, it will be clearly stated both in the ranking list and in the game history for the involved players. As a participant in Pdlrnk, you will, when this page is ready for launch to a wider clientele, receive an email for each game played with your participation. You have the chance of objecting to the results within 24 hours. In that case all other involved players will as well be informed that the set has been cancelled. A new and correct set can be entered afterwards.
This system is not about finding winners. It is mostly about creating great padel moments for all padel players with equal levels, no matter on which level you play. Enjoy padel. We love it.
